Oceanization

Oceans house, produce and deploy some of the strongest energies observable on our planet, probably are the greatest “machine” we can think about.
Heat, evaporation and clouds, with their outcomes in terms of weather systems, are at their primal state.

Beginning from this basic consideration and relying on the experience of captains with several ocean passages on their shoulders, we must keep aware that a yacht, for how big she is, still becomes a “nothing” when amid these forces.

During an ocean passage we will consciously enter a potentially uneasy environment, whilst days of navigation still separate us from land:  ocean-weather dynamics, thus foreseeable, are out of any possible control from our side, but our technical and strategical preparation will act as to minimize our exposition, keeping us safe.

On the other hand the distance from the shore will make a necessity for us to be independent and self-supporting: the concept of “ship-borne” safety including not only power generation or resources-collection from the nature, like producing our own fresh water, but also our ability to understand the weather that surrounds us or that of fixing our position even without the help of any electronic device.

With this new word, “Oceanization”, we want to describe the entire philosophy and process of making this transformation possible.
Through a series of substantial actions to be taken around the yacht and the crew, our team will act in order to make them both fit for a safe ocean navigation.

Safety indeed is the pivot of change and transformation: every department will be subject to upgrading, completion and specific training. From checks and reinforcements on your rig and deck fitting, to the correct dimensioning of systems and the designing of your own energy production strategy to achieve power autonomy, to the enhancement and continuity of ship-to-shore communications, everything will insist on the necessity to render your boat as safe as possible, with  a substantial impact on her capacity to stay at sea and protect her crew even in a potentially demanding situation.

To “Oceanize” a yacht and her crew means to upgrade and transform their total ability to sail safely in an ocean passage. “Oceanization” is a movement in elevation, towards higher safety standards and manning ability, in general and specifically, including any detail of technical, logistical strategical and human relevance and how these patterns interact with each other.

In the era of technology, this is still the only winning philosophy. We can be fit to the ocean with our effort and knowledge, and using any technology as the tool, not the target, of our safety strategy.
